Mayrhofen sits at an altitude of 630m, and although it is one of the lowest ski resorts in the Austrian Alps, has excellent access to higher snow-sure slopes in the region. Heavy investment in a fast and efficient modern lift system means that skiers can reach a top elevation of 3,250m, and explore the diverse terrain on the Zillertal Superski region as well as the slopes of the Hintertux glacier, which is open every day of the year and a popular venue for ski training. Hintertux is one of the steepest and snow-sure glaciers in the Alps, located less than 20km away from Mayrhofen and boasting 18km of ski runs. Mayrhofens low altitude is also boosted by extensive snow-making, with 80% of the ski slopes covered by 117 snow cannons.
