Ski School
The Matterhorn is an excellent place in which to learn to ski or perfect technique, with 8 ski schools in Zermatt, 3 in Cervinia, and 1 in Valtourneche. The standard of tuition is usually very good, with plenty of English-speaking instructors, and courses are available in everything from basic skills to more specific techniques, such as powder skiing and mountaineering. Guiding and ski-touring programmes are also offered.
Childcare
Zermatt boasts a number of different childcare options, for children aged 3 months up to 8 years old, and a host of ski lessons and courses, whilst a nursery in Cervinia also takes children up to 8.
Shopping
Great choice for upmarket shopping, with a number of ski shops, as well as sports shops, boutiques, shoe shops, jewellers, and souvenir and gift stores in Zermatt alone, and an additional 70 shops in Cervinia. A selection of supermarkets and gourmet food shops can also be found.
Dining
The dining scene is extensive and offers something for everyone, including 91 restaurants in Zermatt and 45 in Cervinia, offering a variety of cuisine, at a range of prices.
Apres-Ski
Known for its first-class après-ski, the entertainment scene in the Matterhorn comprises 40 bars and 7 clubs, ranging from favourite happy-hour haunts and cosy rustic inns, to sophisticated jazz clubs, cocktail bars and raucous night clubs.
Town Services
A well-equipped region, there is a choice of supermarkets, 7 banks, Post Offices, hairdressers, dry cleaners and petrol stations.
Medical Facilities
The Matterhorn ski area is served by numerous doctors and a full emergency service, with 4 chemists in the resorts.
