Skiing in the Matterhorn Ski Paradise area offers plenty of snow sure intermediate slopes and long groomed pistes, set against the stunning backdrop of the majestic and world famous Matterhorn Mountain. There is skiing in the Matterhorn to be enjoyed every day of the year, with the glacial slopes reaching an altitude of 3,900m, with the area enjoying one of the longest winter seasons in Europe, from November to May. The ski area of the Matterhorn Ski Paradise area incorporates the linked resorts of Cervinia in Italy and Zermatt in Switzerland, and offers over 300km of marked pistes.

Skiing in the Matterhorn - Excellent conditions, linked resorts of Zermatt and Cervinia
The Matterhorn Ski Paradise area is divided into 3 areas - the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and Schwarzsee Paradise area, the Gornergrat area and the Rothorn area, with the lift pass covering the resorts of Zermatt, Cervinia and Valtournenche. Zermatt offers extensive terrain whilst skiing on the Matterhorn, with its 183km of marked pistes served by a modern and efficient series of over 60 lifts. The largest and most popular area for skiing in Zermatt and the Matterhorn is the Matterhorn Glacial Paradise and Schwarzsee Paradise, which starts at the lower levels rising up from the village and takes in the huge sector that links Zermatt with Cervinia. Here the skiing in the Matterhorn Ski Paradise takes in plenty of long intermediate trails, and the slopes of the Klein Matterhorn at 3,800m, accessed by the worlds' highest cable-car. The Rothorn area, at 3,100m, with its wide open trails, is more suited to beginner and intermediate skiers in the Matterhorn ski area, whilst the Gornergrat area, at 3,000m, boasts long fast runs and plenty of off-piste, ideal for more advanced skiers. The Italian resort of Cervinia offers 110km of piste, with plenty of long but gentle runs on its high-altitude sunny slopes, and excellent conditions for both beginners and intermediates on a skiing holiday in the Matterhorn, whilst the linked village of Valtournenche, which sits below Cervinia, is home to another 40km of marked trails.
