Snow conditions in Madonna di Campiglio - Reliable snow, wonderful variety of slopes
The resort of Madonna di Campiglio sits in a sheltered valley in the Brenta Dolomites, and offers excellent intermediate skiing and a wonderful variety of slopes for both skiers and boarders. Thanks to its high-altitude terrain, the conditions are reliable throughout the season, even though some of the runs are south-facing. The winter season in Madonna di Campiglio runs from December to April, and the resort expects an average annual snowfall of 130cm.
Madonna di Campiglio snow conditions - Long cruising runs for intermediates
Sitting at an altitude of 1,550m, and with the highest lift reaching 2,580m, there's plenty of high-altitude slopes to explore in Madonna di Campiglio, with most of the skiing taking place over 2,000m. The resort offers 150km of terrain, and is based on two different sides of the mountain - the east and the west - with the Passo Groste sector in the east offering the highest terrain, and a vertical drop of 900m. Most of the ski area focuses on gladed runs below the tree line, with plenty of wide-open forested slopes boasting fantastic views. Intermediates have the most terrain to choose from, and are treated to long cruising runs, whilst the excellent nursery slopes and extensive ski schools make it a great resort in which to learn, with plenty of progressive blues to practice on. Advanced skiers have fairly limited challenging terrain, however, with the blacks mainly race and slalom runs, and a small amount of off-piste available.

The slopes of Madonna di Campiglio are extremely well-maintained, with the resort having some of the best-groomed runs in Italy, and, thanks to the modern and well-equipped lift system, the slopes appear uncrowded for most of the time, even during the peak season. Upper slope averages for the 2008-9 season in Madonna di Campiglio reached 237cm in February and 226cm in March, with the slopes also supported by snowmaking over 20km, served by 564 snow cannons.
