Madesimo Ski Holidays
Close to the border with Switzerland, the mountain town of Madesimo lies in the beautiful Lombardia region of Italy, north of the stunning Lake Como. The town, which was once known as Isolato, is located 110km north of Milan, and 50km northwest of Sondrio, which sits on the Swiss border. Skiers in Madesimo can fly into Milan, and take a train to the nearby town of Chiavenna. Madesimo borders the Italian municipality of Campodolocino, as well as the Swiss towns of Medels im Rheinweld, Mesocco, Piuro, Slugen and Sufers.
Skiing In Madesimo
Madesimo is a fairly large resort, whose 12 lifts offer access to 1398 metres of vertical descent. Skiers in Madesimo can enjoy 32 pistes, with a combined length of 55 km. There are a further 10 km of cross country ski trails to be explored during a ski holiday in Madesimo. Lying at 1550 meters, the resort is best suited to intermediate skiers, although a few of the slopes are suitable for beginners and advanced skiers. Snowboarders are very well catered for – there are two parks and a total of four half pipes. The highest lift at Madesimo reaches 2880 m, and the longest run is 3km.

A friendly, compact resort, Madesimo attracts large numbers of repeat visitors, who appreciate the laid-back, unpretentious atmosphere as well as the good resort facilities and well-groomed pistes. A modern lift system provides easy access to the slopes, which tend to be pleasant on weekdays. Skiers in Madesimo can enjoy good value mountainside dining or choose from one of the many restaurants at the heart of the resort, and the village also boasts a good sports centre, excellent ski school, ice skating, cross country skiing and plenty of shops. Apres-ski is relaxed and laid back, and skiers in Madesimo shouldn’t miss a chance to take the exhilarating 69km skidoo trail that leads right up to the Swiss border.
