Lillehammer Snow Conditions - Former Winter Olympic Venue
Lillehammer lies in eastern Norway just less than 2 hours from Oslo airport, in a picturesque setting overlooking Lake Mjosa. The resort is well-established with a long history of winter sports, and sprung to international fame when it hosted the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. Despite its low altitude of 200m, Lillehammer is known for reliable conditions, particularly in late season, with skiing up to a height of 1,200m. Conditions remain consistent thanks to the cold winters the region experiences, with snow guaranteed between November and May.
Snow Conditions In Lillehammer - Guaranteed snow during its cold winters
A snowsure resort, Lillehammer received a total of 298cm of snow in 2007, with March generally seeing the most snowfall. The average snow depth in the region is generally between 70-120cm, and in 2007 upper slope averages reached 115cm. Average winter temperatures are around -3C, and the resort sees daylight from 9am - 4pm. The region experiences light winds with gentle but frequent snowfall, and excellent powder conditions can be found on the slopes throughout the season. In Hafjell the ski runs are generally long and wide, and all lead back to the same destination. Slopes are varied and offer a range of terrain - both forested and sheltered, and open and exposed, lying higher up above the tree-line.
