Snow Conditions in Les Gets - Access to the vast Portes du Soleil
The traditional farming village of Les Gets lies in the Haute-Savoie region of the French Alps, on a sunny plateau next to the neighbouring resort of Morzine. Les Gets is one of the ski resorts that make up the Portes du Soleil, and sits on the western side of the ski area, just an hour from Geneva. Lying between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, Les Gets and the rest of the Portes du Soleil sees high amounts of snowfall, sometimes early on, which it retains throughout the winter ski season, creating reliable snow conditions for skiers and boarders.

Les Gets sits at a fairly low altitude, at 1,172m, and offers skiing up to 2,010m on its 65 slopes. Despite its lack of height, the resort is known to offer a reliable snow record, mainly due to its proximity to Mont Blanc, which, at 4,810m, is the highest mountain in Western Europe. Skiing takes place over 2 areas - Chavannes and the quieter Mont Chery - and the terrain includes gentle beginner’s slopes, long tree-lined blues and reds, and challenging blacks full of sheers and moguls, as well as plenty of off-piste. Les Gets is linked to the vast Portes du Soleil, with over 650km of terrain, and offers a huge playground for every level of skier. Morzine is also covered on the local ski pass, and Avoriaz, the snowboarding haven, is accessible from the resort. Les Gets has both north and south-facing slopes, and is sheltered by heavy forests of pine trees, which also helps to maintain the snow base and contribute to the reliable conditions.
