Lech Snow Conditions - Excellent snow record
One of Austria’s most exclusive resorts, skiing in Lech is renowned for its excellent snow record, snow-sure slopes and extremely long season. Thanks to its own enviable micro-climate, Lech enjoys more snow than almost anywhere else in Austria, and can boast one of the best snow reliability in the Alps. The season here runs from the end of November to the end of May.
Snow Conditions in Lech - Uncrowned slopes, dramatic scenery
Sitting at 1,450 metres and with 276 km of immaculately maintained piste, Lech is a picture-perfect Alpine village. A ski holiday in Lech guarantees a quality experience on the slopes – a policy of restricting lift access means that the slopes are never crowded. Skiing in Lech offers a total of 55 runs – almost half of which are perfect for skiing intermediates. Experts on a skiing holiday in Lech will find some of Europe’s most challenging off-piste skiing at nearby St Anton, while beginners will find great nursery slopes above the village at Oberlach.
Lech Snow Conditions – Absolutely snow secure
Lech has a reputation for being absolutely snow secure, with snow conditions in Lech remaining good even during poor years that saw lift closures are other Austrian resorts. The average snowfall in Lech is around 250 centimetres (98 inches) and the well-groomed slopes are covered by around 130 centimetres (51 inches) of snow on average. For added snow security, Lech boasts one of the most modern snow making systems in the world. Almost 20 per cent of the resort is covered by 28 snow cannons, enabling the resort to cover almost 15km of slopes with of artificial snow.
Snow Conditions in Lech – Sunny and mild
Skiers in Lech can enjoy the fact that all the slopes are below 3,000 meters (9,843 feet) but above the tree line, helping to deliver excellent snow conditions without extreme cold. Sun worshippers will be happy too - Lech has about 70 days of sunshine during the winter months.
