La Thuile is a ski resort that was an old mining village set at 1450m at the top of the Aosta Valley on the Italian – French border. La Thuile is linked with the La Rosiere ski resort in France which offers a total of 150kms of ski area; it is also possible to take a day trip to Courmayeur. Skiers in La Thuile experience stunning views of Mont Blanc, Monte Rose and the Matterhorn. La Thuile generally has good snow due to the majority of north facing ski slopes. La Thuile is a good value ski resort tends to be quieter during the week with very few queues and gets livelier at weekends when the Italian skiers arrive.

Beginners in La Thuile have the choice of skiing on the nursery slopes at village level or at the top of the gondola at Les Suches at 2200m. Intermediate skiers have a wide choice of runs and can head for the sunnier slopes of La Rosiere. For advanced skiers in La Thuile there are some steep black runs and long wooded runs and plenty of off piste opportunities. There is also heliskiing on the Rutor glacier. There are no purpose built facilities in La Thuile for snowboarders but good red and blue runs. There is 20kms of cross country skiing.

There is plenty of choice of cheap pizza and pasta in La Thuile and also some more upmarket restaurants to experience. There are some lively bars in La Thuile and a nightclub. There are not too many activities apart from skiing in La Thuile although there is a fitness centre, swimming pool and sauna, also some pretty walking trails.
