Le Fornet Skiing Holidays
Val d’Isere is one of the most popular ski resorts with British skiers and has a well-deserved reputation both for its’ skiing and après-ski facilities. Linked with Tignes, Val d’Isere is part of the enormous Espace Killy ski region, offering 300km of pistes served by over 100 lifts, and enjoys one of the longest seasons in the Alps, with summer skiing available on a choice of two glaciers. Val d’Isere dates back to the 11th century, and this original farming community has now developed into a slick upscale modern ski resort, attracting up to 25,000 visitors every year. There are three villages that make up Val d’Isere – Val D’Isere, La Daille and Le Fornet - situated deep in a valley along the Val d’Isere River. Le Fornet, an original farming hamlet and the prettiest and most unspoilt of the three, sits at the far end of the valley, and its’ picture-postcard streets are home to many upmarket chalets and lodgings.

Skiing in Le Fornet – The Mountains
Le Fornet is a good choice for those skiing in Val d’Isere, as it known for its’ fantastic off-piste skiing. Here in Le Fornet, the cable-car takes skiers up to Col D’Iseran, where there is a choice of 4 lifts, including the gondola which leads up to the Pissaillas Glacier with its’ 6 blue and 6 red trails, and the long Signal drag lift accessing the fabulous off-piste area of Le Grand Vallon, with its’ powder fields. The marked trails of the Le Fornet area are good for beginners and intermediates, and some free lifts available in the village can help novices find their feet. The resort has plenty of easy trails, but it is the more experienced skier who is spoilt for choice whilst skiing in Val d’Isere, with a wealth of blue runs, 67 in the whole region - a mixture of long cruisers and tight pistes filled with moguls. Experts not content with exploring the off-piste can test themselves on the most difficult downhill course, the Bellevarde Face and the famous Solaise mogul run.
A snowboard park at the to of La Daille has plenty to offer snowboarders, but like the skiing in Val d’Isere, the most challenging and exciting riding has to be found off-piste.

Skiing in Le Fornet – Off the slopes
Le Fornet is the furthest village from Val d’Isere, and therefore slightly detached from the action. It is filled with mainly exclusive accommodation, so visitors tend to entertain themselves at home or travel to Val d’Isere or La Daille for the famed après-ski. The entertainment in Val d’Isere is notoriously expensive and has a reputation of attracting the rich and famous to its’ numerous bars and restaurants. The shopping here in Val d’Isere is as you would expect, extensive and pricey. There is so much action on the slopes that activities for non-skiers are fairly limited, but include swimming, ice-skating, paragliding and snowmobiling.
