Snow Conditions in Kranjska Gora - Scenic ski area in the Julian Alps
Located in the Zgornjesavska Valley in the Julian Alps of Slovenia, Kranjska Gora lies close to both the Italian and Austrian borders. The resort is the countries biggest and best-known ski centre, and boasts relaxed skiing, especially for beginners and families. Kranjska Gora sees an average annual snowfall of 190cm, and is known as a popular value-for-money ski resort.  
 
Snow Conditions in Kranjska Gora - North-facing slopes, no crowds, gentle runs
Kranjska Gora sits at an altitude of 810m, and offers skiing up to 1,570m. The slopes are mainly northeast facing, and the resort has a vertical of 760m. The 30km of skiable terrain is made up of mainly beginner's slopes, and most of the pistes are wide and gentle, with some runs through glade woodland. Tuition is of a high standard, and although the lifts are fairly old, the slopes are generally quiet and there are no queues. Kranjska Gora does has limited terrain for advanced skiers, although the resort is a regular host of the FIS World Cup races, which are held in March, with international ski jumping competitions held in nearby Planica.

The ski season runs from mid-December to the end of March. Upper slope averages for the 2009 season reached 200cm, although the previous year saw a maximum amount of 43cm. To boost the variable natural snowfall, Kranjska Gora has a total of 46 snow cannons serving the lower slopes, and covering three-quarters of the total ski area.
