Ski School
Kaprun has a good choice of 6 ski schools, offering a range of instruction. Choose from basic learn-to-ski packages and either group, private, family lessons, or tuition on disciplines such as racing and freestyle techniques. Guiding is also available.
 
Childcare
A creche takes children aged 2 - 4, there are skiing lessons for those aged 3 and older, and an extensive Mini-Club for the over-5's. There is also a children's ski play area at the base of the Lechnerberg.
 
Shopping
Kaprun has ski shops, sports shops and supermarkets as well as traditional village stores selling local goods and regional foodstuffs, jewellery, gifts and souvenirs. Zell am See has more upmarket shops and a charming market.
 
Dining
There are 25 restaurants in town and up on the mountain, with cuisine varying from authentic Tyrolean fare to Italian, French and Tex-Mex. There is a good choice of hotel dining, as well as fantastic Austrian cakes and pastries in the cafes and coffee shops in the area.
 
Apres-Ski
Kaprun has a choice of 9 bars, some in local hotels, ranging from international pubs with live music and cocktails, to quiet Austrian inns where beers and schnapps are served. There are some late-night discos, however Zell am See, just 5km away is larger and livelier for apres-ski.
 
Town Services
The town has 4 banks, cashpoints, a post office, petrol stations, supermarkets, an internet cafe and a large sports centre. Regular buses ferry skiers from the town to the ski areas.
 
Medical Facilities
Kaprun has a doctor and a chemist in town, so you can enjoy complete peace of mind when on family skiing holidays here.
