Snow Conditions Jackson Hole
Located deep in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, the resort of Jackson Hole, named after the valley in which the ski town sits, is full of steep intermediate and expert terrain which covers two mountains. The resort enjoys a fantastic snow record, with a massive 1.1m of of snow falling each year and an average snow base depth of 248cm.

Jackson Hole Snow Conditions - Steep challenging terrain, unpredictable conditions
At a resort altitude of 1,924m, Jackson Hole offers skiing up to a height of 3,185m, and enjoys a long season running from December until April. Known for its steep challenging terrain, the resort is also famous for its sunshine and wonderful powder conditions, created by the dry climate of less than 50% humidity, which helps to keep the snow extremely light and fluffy. Jackson Hole sees huge amounts of powder during the peak season, between late December and February, with the most snow falling in January, around an average of 218cm. January is also the coldest month, seeing averages of 2C, and although many think that Jackson Hole experiences very cold weather, the temperatures are only around 4C lower than in Vail. Conditions in Jackson can be unpredictable, however. Inversions are formed when cold air is held down on the valley floor by high pressure fronts from Canada, resulting in temperatures of up to 20C warmer up in the mountains.

Snow conditions Jackson Hole - High-altitude skiing, sunny conditions, great powder
Jacksons' slopes are a mixture of mainly east and south facing, which have the potential for deteriorating conditions due to the high amount of sunshine, but the heavy snowfall generally alleviates this problem. Sometimes lack of snow can be a problem at the lower slopes early on in the season, but if this is the case skiers can head to Grand Targee, which boasts the best early snow in the country. Jackson Hole is also the windiest of all the Rocky Mountain ski towns, but is still more sheltered than some of the more exposed resorts on the West Coast.
