Isola 2000 sits in the Southern Alps, on the Italian border, and offers a high-altitude purpose-built resort ideal for beginners. The closest resort to the sea, Isola is located just 60km from the Cote d'Azur, and is the first to receive snowfall from any storms heading into the region, often seeing different conditions that other French resorts further north. Known as a very snowsure resort, Isola 2000 boasts excellent conditions, even early and late in the season.   
 
Snow conditions in Isola - Sunny skies and reliable skiing
The resort has some of the best conditions in France, with one of the most impressive snow records, making it a popular destination, especially for weekend skiers as it is so close to Nice, with the convenient modern facilities attracting families with children. The sunshine, Mediterranean climate and exceptional views help to add to the experience of skiing at Isola. Sitting at an altitude of 1,840m, the skiing is mainly over 2,000m, with a top elevation of 2,600m and a vertical drop of 800m, and located in the areas of St. Saveur, Pelevos and Levant. Beginners will enjoy the central nursery slopes on the doorstep, whilst intermediates have an excellent choice of runs with plenty of tree-lined descents. Experts can test themselves in the north-facing St. Saveur region, and explore the heavily-wooded off-piste terrain.
 
Snow conditions in Isola - Snowmaking operation over its slopes
The ski season in Isola runs from December to April, with good conditions throughout the winter. The resort has invested in snowmaking facilities, with 403 snow cannons providing 15% coverage over 6km of runs. Upper slope averages in 2010 in February saw 216cm, with the previous season experiencing a higher 331cm in March of 2009.
