Hochgurgl Resort Facilities

The Hochgurgl Ski School has an excellent reputation, with lessons in skiing being available for beginner skiers, intermediate skiiers and advanced skiers there. For adults and children, full-day instruction is available. The range of tuition on offer at the ski school includes skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding.

At Hochgurgl a creche is available for children aged 2 and up. Many hotels offer private childcare, so when you need to you can leave your children in the safe hands of professional carers at the resort for a couple of hours, or for a full day (upon request).

Shopping in Hochgurgl is limited, with few shopping outlets being within walking distance of Hochgurgl hotels. But by heading to nearby Obergurgl you can enjoy browsing or making purchases at the numerous ski rental and clothing shops. Self-caterers could also pick up essentials and regional foods at the supermarkets in the surrounding neighbourhood.

At Hochgurgl, hotel cuisine will include traditional Austrian meals for all the family to enjoy. Mountain restaurants offer great food, as well as spectacular views. There is a new restaurant on the top of The Hohe Mut, a majestic mountain with a famed black mogul slope. A short hop to Obergurgl means finding fast food restaurants, pizzerias, value-for-money restaurants and also fine dining options.

At Hochgurgl, after another great day on the slopes you could continue the excitement with the lively apres-ski on offer at either the African Bar or the Austria Keller, both of which are open until very late. Other popular venues include Krump'n Stadl, Josl Keller, The Lodge, and Toni's Almhut.

 

In the Hochgurgl/Obergurgl area there is a bank, several cashpoint machines, a post office, town hall, tourist information centre, petrol station, pharmacy and a library. Hair and beauty salons can be found at some Hochgurgl hotels.

Most Hochgurgl hotels have basic medical facilities, with some having doctors on-call. Mountain Rescue for emergencies are stationed at Obergurgl. The nearest hospital to Hochgurgl is at Zams (75km away). There you will find state-of-the-art medical equipment and excellent care.
