Skiing in Hochgurgl Hochgurgl is situated at 2150m in the Oetz valley surrounded by beautiful mountains and glaciers. Hochgurgl is linked by a cable car to Obergurgl creating a ski area of 110kms with the longest run being 8.5kms. Hochgurgl is the quieter of the two resorts and the apres ski is relaxed and low key. As one of Austria’s highest resorts Hochgurgl enjoys a long ski season and excellent snow conditions and is a good skiing destination for families and groups of mixed ability skiers.
Hochgurgl skiing holidays There are nursery slopes and a ski school in Hochgurgl and some easy blue runs for beginners around the ski resort. Between Hochgurgl and Obergurgl there is plenty to keep intermediate skiers busy with wide blues, some challenging reds, stunning scenery and fairly quiet slopes. There are a few black runs around Hochgurgl for advanced skiers, challenging mogul fields on the Hohe Mut and opportunities for some good off piste skiing. For snowboarders in this area there is a terrain park, quarter pipe and half pipe and wide, uncrowded slopes. There is approx 12kms of cross country skiing trails.
Apres ski in Hochgurgl Hochgurgl is fairly quiet and relaxed in the evenings with most of the entertainment taking place in the hotels; there are a couple of bars. Obergurgl has a wider choice of restaurants and bars.
