Hemsedal Skiing Holidays
Hemsedal has become known as the best ski resort in Norway, it is situated in the heart of Norway between Bergen and Oslo and is surrounded by beautiful, rugged peaks. There is plenty to do in Hemsedal both on and off the ski slopes, there is 40kms of piste, the longest run totalling 6kms and great off piste skiing. The altitude of the local peaks is the highest in Scandinavia reaching 2000m, there are also good snow making facilities.

Hemsedal village is approx 3kms from the skiing area serviced by a free bus system, there are two ski areas – Hemsedal Ski Centre and Solheisen both on the same lift pass. There are good facilities in Hemsedal for first time skiers and snowboarders, and there is a choice of long, easy runs. Intermediate skiers will find a mix of tree lined runs and wide open bowls and there are several black runs available to advanced skiers and plenty of off piste skiing. Hemsedal is one of the best snowboarding resorts in Scandinavia and there is a 600m long fun park for snowboarders and freestyle skiers. Hemsedal has 220kms of cross country skiing trails, two of which are floodlit.

There are some good value restaurants in Hemsedal serving traditional Norwegian and international dishes. There is a mixture of bars and pubs that are fairly relaxed during the week, going up tempo at the weekends when more Norwegian skiers arrive. There are plenty of activities to experience in Hemsedal including snowmobiling, skidoo rides, Sleigh rides, bowling, etc.
