There is a choice of 7 ski and snowboard schools in Grandvalira, employing more than 450 instructors, including a huge number of English-speakers providing relaxed and friendly tuition. They offer everything from group learn-to-ski packages to private instruction and specialised programmes.

 

There are 4 nurseries offering childcare in the area, based in Soldeu, El Tartar, Grau Roig and Canillo, taking babies from 12 months to 4 years. Children aged 3 and up can take ski lessons, and there are 5 snow gardens in Grandvalira. 

 

Each sector has a good range of shops, with the greatest choice and larger department stores found in Andorra La Vella. Good duty-free buys include electrical goods, jewellery, perfume, cosmetics, alcohol and tobacco.

 

Choices in Grandvalira include cafes and fast food joints, international restaurants, rustic Andorran inns and cosy chalet-style huts up on the mountain, with sunny terraces and great views, serving everything from pizza and English breakfasts to fondue and tapas.

 

Everything from rowdy British pubs and cosy apres-ski hang-outs to unique ice bars and late-night clubs, with cheap drinks and special happy hours attracting a young party crowd to the many bars and discos found here. There is lots of live music, games, televised sport and pool.

Services include supermarkets, banks, post offices, tourist offices, internet cafes, hairdressers, launderettes and libraries.

 

Medical centres are based in all the resorts in Grandvalira, and there is one hospital. Soldeu, El Tartar and Pas de la Casa have chemists in town.
