Geilo Resort Facilities

Ski School
A great place to learn, Geilo has 3 ski schools which are highly regarded, and provide both group and individual tuition. English is widely spoken by the instructors, and the schools offer lessons in a large selection of techniques and skills.

Childcare
Geilo is considered the most family-friendly resort in Norway. The kindergarten, Trollkluben, at the base of the ski area is very popular and offers excellent day-care for children from 6 months - 7, a special ski area with lift and an outside play area for ages 2-6. Lessons are available for children aged 4 and older. Many of the hotels have playrooms and some have private day-care.

Shopping

A covered arcade of shops sell a range of products including skiwear and sporting goods, clothing, shoes, gifts, flowers, perfume and books. Traditional Norwegian crafts can also be found in the local shops.

Après Ski
The village offers a quiet and laid-back scene when the lifts close, with 13 bars and 2 clubs. Most of the après ski takes place in the hotels, and during the weekend the bars get busier, with live music sometimes featured.

Dining
With 17 restaurants, including 6 up on the mountain, the small village offers a range of options for eating out. Choose from inexpensive cafes and pizzerias, to upmarket restaurants serving authentic Norwegian fare.

Town Services
Include a bank, post office, tourist office, library, petrol stations and 2 supermarkets. Shuttle buses run throughout the town, and from the hotels to the slopes.

Medical Facilities
There are medical facilities and a chemist in town.
