After a hard days' skiing, relax in one of the traditional Scandinavian saunas found in the resort, or enjoy a beauty treatment in one of the hotels. The traditional mountain village is small and full of character, with a choice of shops to stroll round. Sights in town include the Geilojordet, an old farm building dating back to the 18th century, and the Geilo Smithy, a museum portraying the villages' iron industry. Day trips include a trip on the famous Fiam Railway, one of the country’s' major attractions, to discover the famous Norwegian fjords, set amongst some spectacular mountain scenery, or a visit the Langedrag Nature Park.

 

Après Ski 

Entertainment is mainly centred on the hotels bars, creating a scene that is relaxed and laid-back. Drink prices are generally more expensive than at home.

 

Dining 

Choose from international dishes or more traditional Norwegian fare at the various cafes and restaurants here. Local specialities include reindeer, venison, salmon, trout and cloudberries.
