Flaine Resort Facilities
Ski School
Flaine has a great choice of ski schools and independent instructors offering a choice of basic lessons and specialist courses. Main schools such as l'Ecole du Ski Francais and Ski Ecole International provide a large number of multi-lingual instructors, and private guides and instructors offer a range of services, such as race training and off-piste.
Children
The resort is known for being especially child-friendly, with facilities and activities to suit families, and plenty of wide slopes ideal for beginners. Ski schools offer ski kindergarten for ages 3-11, and there is a youth club for ages 12-14. There are nurseries and crèches taking babies as young as 6 months, and various play areas located in the car-free resort.
Shopping
Most of the 20 shops and services are located in the two arcades in the resort. Shopping is fairly limited but there are a couple of clothing shops and places to buy souvenirs. Food shops include 4 supermarkets, and a few bakeries and gourmet food stores.
Town services
There is a bank in town with 2 cash machines, a post office and a tourist office, as well as basic services such as a newsagent, dry-cleaners and hairdresser.
Dining
Over 20 restaurants in the resort offer a choice of cuisine, from simple fast-food cafes up on the mountain, to pizzerias in town and traditional French establishments serving hearty Savoyarde dishes.
Apres-ski
Skiing in Flaine enjoys a fairly quiet laid-back atmosphere, with 7 bars providing entertainment at the end of the day, and a disco in town for late-night dancing. A cinema shows French films, and bowling is a popular family activity.
Medical services
Flaine has a medical centre for emergencies, and a chemist in the resort.
