Snow Conditions In El Tarter - Shares slopes with Soldeu, part of Grandvalira ski area
El Tarter, part of the Grandvalira ski area, is located in Andorra in the Southern Pyrenees. It shares its ski slopes with its neighbour Soldeu, and has access to 193km of terrain in the vast Grandvalira region - which takes up most of North Eastern Andorra and reaches over the border into France. El Tarter is known as a relatively snowsure resort with plenty of slopes over 2,000m, and lots of southern sunshine. The season in El Tarter runs from December to April, with February and March generally seeing the best snow.
El Tarter Snow Conditions - Skiing over 2,000m, high-altitude north-facing slopes
With the village located at 1,766m, El Tarter offers plenty of high-altitude skiing up to 2,640m. Most of its ski trails are north-facing, which help to retain the snowbase despite the high temperatures that the area sees and the glorious sunny weather that the resort is known for. Throughout the winter, the weather stays warm during the day with the temperature dropping down to below zero at night, making for ideal conditions for beginners and first-time skiers. With 18 green runs and 32 blues, the resort is known as a great place to learn, and there is no shortage of wide gentle slopes on which to practice. There are also opportunities for off-piste skiing and heli-skiing, with deep powder conditions up on the higher slopes.

Over 30% of the slopes at El Tarter are covered by snowmaking facilities, with 914 snow cannons in operation, and most of the lower slopes that lead down to the village covered with artificial snow. El Tarter sees an average snowfall of 2.5m each year, with upper slope averages reaching 132cm in recent years.
