El Tarter in Andorra is a popular ski resort that is part of the Grandvalira region, the largest ski area in the southern Pyrenees. Neighbouring resorts are Pas de la Casa, Soldeu, Grau Roig, Canillo and Encamp, offering an even wider choice of slopes for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities (193 km of pistes, in fact!). The snow conditions at El Tarter are reliable, and the resort is particularly suited to first-time and beginner skiers, although there is also a very good park for snowboarders. El Tarter is more low-key than Soldeu, with the après-ski there reflecting this, with just a few bars and clubs to choose from.
