Les Deux Alpes
Les Deux Alpes in the Southern French Alps is a vast ski area, the second oldest in France after Chamonix, and offers a lively and affordable resort with a friendly atmosphere and stunning views. Les Deux Alpes sit at a height of 1,650m, and consists of a huge ski area encompassing 76 runs over 220km of piste, with 8 runs on the glacier itself. Its modern and efficient lift service consists of 63 lifts, including a gondola, and a funicular railway takes skiers up to a top elevation of 3,550m in Les Deux Alpes, offering spectacular views. Unusually, some of the beginner slopes in Les Deux Alpes are located way up on the glacier, enabling those perfecting their technique on the wide and gentle runs to enjoy the marvellous views afforded this high up. Almost three-quarters of the runs in Les Deux Alpes are rated as intermediate, with most of the skiing taking place around Les Cretes and Toura, at 2,100m and 2,600m respectively. Les Deux Alpes is also extremely popular with snowboarders, with the resort home to one of the most extensive and sophisticated snowparks in Europe. The charming village of La Grave, recommended for advanced skiers, is linked to Les Deux Alpes, and nearby resorts include Alpe d'Huez, Montgeneve and Serre Chevalier.

Known as a party town, the apres-ski is Les Deux Alpes is a fun lively affair, with entertainment for everyone. A free bus takes skiers around the compact Les Deux Alpes, with this purpose-built and well-equipped town home to over 250 shops and restaurants, and a choice of late-night bars and clubs. Other activities in Les Deux Alpes include snowshoeing, ice-climbing, tobogganing, ice-skating, and the town is home to a cinema, sports complexes and bowling facilities. The ancient village of Vensc sits below Les Deux Alpes, and is linked by gondola, home to cobbled streets, quaint shops and a great choice of restaurants.
