Skiing in Crest Voland Crest Voland is a small traditional ski station, 15km from Megeve, which attracts beginners and families. Together with Les Saises, Notre-Dame de Bellecombe and Flumet, Crest Voland forms the ski region of L’Espace Diamant, a large area incorporating 120 pistes over 140km, and served by 72 lifts. The resort of Crest Voland is close to Mont Blanc, creating good snow coverage for a relatively low resort – it sits at 1,500m – and affording the village simply stunning views of the areas surrounding it.
Skiing in Crest Voland – The Mountains The long uncrowded slopes of Crest Voland are ideal for beginners, and attract many families to the resort. The area offers 90km of pistes, with 10 green, 10 blue and 7 red runs and has a top elevation of 1,600m . There are no black runs to be found in Crest-Voland, so more advanced skiers should visit one of the other resorts in the L’Espace Diamant for more challenging terrain .Crest Voland is linked to Les Saises, which lies between the Beaufortain Valley and Val d’Arly, at an altitude of 1,650m. Les Saises is located in a snow bowl facing Mont Blanc, and its’ slopes are home to 7 green, 15 blue, 14 red and 4 black runs. This is considered to be the top cross-country resort in France, having gained fame since hosting many events when the Winter Olympics were held in the city of Albertville in 1992. Crest Voland is also a big Nordic centre, with an extensive network of cross-country trails which run through the heavily wooded countryside surrounding the village. The resort is home to a luge park and is beginning to gain more popularity with snowboarders, having recently added a snowpark, with a boarder cross. Night-skiing is also available in Crest Voland, and the resort has invested in 28 snow cannons.
Skiing in Crest Voland – The Village Crest Voland was first established as a ski resort in the early 1950’s, and the village still retains its’ rustic traditional charm. An old church sits in the centre of the village, and most of the buildings are authentic French chalets. The après-ski is low-key and suits the many families who come to ski here, with 12 bars, 9 restaurants and just one nightclub. Other activities to try whilst skiing in Crest Voland include snow-shoeing, ice-climbing, dog-sledding, hiking, tennis, and for the more adventurous, paragliding.
