Skiing in Courmayeur
Courmayeur, the internationally renowned Italian resort, is situated in the scenic Aosta Valley on the borders of Switzerland and France, and is perhaps best known for its’ lively apres-ski and cosmopolitan ambience. The skiing in Italy is best suited to intermediates, and the resort is popular with groups and couples. With spectacular views of the Mont Blanc and the surrounding high peaks, the scenery around Courmayeur is breathtaking, and the picturesque mountain town has a charming atmosphere.

Skiing in Courmayeur – The Mountains
The skiing in Courmayeur covers 50km of trails, with varied terrain, mainly above the tree-line, with the north-facing slopes of the resort ensuring good conditions. There are 2 main ski areas, Checrouit-Val Veny, which sits just above the resort and is home to wide open, gentle trails, best suited to beginners, and Mont Blanc, where the runs are steeper and more suited to experienced skiers. Beginners have the tree-lined lower slopes to practice on, with limited terrain on the upper sections of the mountain, and tuition from one of Italys’ most prestigious ski schools. Over half of the marked trails are ideal for intermediate skiers, with a series of 27 lifts serving the resort and taking passengers from the resort base of 1,225m up to the peak of 2,775m. It’s not possible to ski back down to village, with skiers making the return journey by lift or bus. The most famous run in Courmayeur is the 20km Vallee Blanche which runs all the way down to Chamonix, in France, and expert skiers can test out the World Cup downhill and the International, with its’ 1,000m vertical. Courmayeur is home to some fantastic off-piste skiing, enough to keep the most experienced skier busy for a week, and guides are available in the resort to lead tours in both glacial skiing and heliskiing. Whilst skiing in Courmayeur, other resorts covered on the lift pass include Chamonix, La Thuile and Megeve.

Skiing in Courmayeur – The Apres-ski
Courmayeur is a traditional Alpine village, with cobbled streets, beautiful architecture and a pedestrian centre giving the resort an air of charm. Many stylish shops and cafes line the streets, with evenings in Courmayeur beginning with the traditional evening stroll, then dinner in one of the many fantastic restaurants found throughout the resort. The bar scene is lively, but not rowdy, with a huge choice of places to spend the evening, from cosy wine bars to sophisticated clubs. Whilst skiing in Courmayeur, other activities to enjoy include ice-skating, swimming, bowling and paragliding.
