Cortina Resort Facilities

Home to 7 schools with over 250 instructors, Cortina offers a range of lessons in both downhill skiing and cross-country skiing, and snowboarding. Specialist courses are also offered in techniques such as off-piste, and the schools have a number of English-speaking instructors.

 

Lessons are available for children aged 4 and up, and the nursery slopes in the resort are excellent. There is no non-skiing child-care in the resort, but many private babysitting services are available. Activities for children include a playground in the Ice Stadium, and indoor inflatable games at Gulliver Park and Parco Giochi Guargne.

 

Over 250 shops offer plenty of choice for visitors to Cortina. Known as a jet-set resort, the shopping is suitably upscale, with high prices in the chic boutiques and luxury jewellery shops that line the main pedestrian street, Corso Italia. There are also many shops selling skiwear and equipment, crafts, gifts and souvenirs, as well as delis, butchers and wine shops, and a great twice-weekly market.

 

The atmosphere is sophisticated but fairly quiet, with evenings beginning with the 'passeggiata' or parade through the resort. Choices of 28 drinking holes include wine bars, pubs and piano bars, and there are 5 discos for late-night entertainment.

 

There are 45 restaurants in Cortina, including 19 up on the mountain, offering a mixture of traditional northern Italian cuisine, as well as French and Mexican. Choices range from casual pizzerias to Michelin-starred restaurants.   

 

The town is home to 2 supermarkets, 5 banks, a post office and a tourist office. There are plenty of taxis and car services, as well a free shuttlebus. Cortina also has a library, cinema, local museums and art galleries.     

 

There are emergency services within the resort, along with a doctor and 3 chemists.
