Chatel is a rustic farming village, with traditional architecture, a local church, and a thriving weekly market. There are plenty of scenic winter walks to enjoy, and, as the resort sits on the Swiss border, day trips to the nearby thermal spas at Evian and Thonon, as well as Geneva, Montraux and Annecy are possible.
Dining
There's a good selection of restaurants in town and on the mountain, mostly offering hearty Alpine food. Whilst in Chatel, try some of the regional specialities, such as tartiflette, made with local Reblochon cheese, raclette and fondue.
Apres-ski
Chatels' apres-ski scene is relaxed with a laid-back atmosphere, with a good choice of traditional bars to try when the lifts close and after dinner. A great way to sample the local wines and liqueurs, and friendly alpine hospitality.
