The surrounding area is great for exploring, with many quaint little hamlets and churches to visit, as well as a museum and a local castle. The town of Aosta has Roman ruins to see and the city of Turin is an interesting day trip.

 

A wide range of restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias, serving local cuisine and traditional Italian fare. Regional Aosta Valley specialities include beef carbonade, polenta and risotto using local foods such as boudin sausage, prosciutto and fontina cheese, and sweet honey biscuits called tegolei.

 

Après-ski in Champoluc is very relaxed, and has a real Italian atmosphere, with the locals still enjoying the traditional evening 'passagiato'. The village bars and cafes offer a cosy welcome when the lifts close, and have a good range of local Piedmont wines and spirits.
