Chamonix Skiing Holiday
Known for its magnificent beauty and challenging terrain, Chamonix is both the oldest and largest ski resort in France, and remains one of the most popular places ski resorts around. A scenic town in the Chamonix Valley, the ski resort offers exceptional conditions for intermediate, expert and off-piste skiers, set beneath the highest mountain in the Alps, the Mont Blanc massif. Add to that spectacular views, a charming town centre, vibrant apres-ski scene and easy accessibility to Geneva airport, and you have the many reasons why Chamonix is regarded as one of the worlds' best ski resorts.

Chamonix Ski Holidays - One of the worlds' best ski resorts
Although the resort sits at an altitude of just over 1,000m, the majority of skiing in Chamonix takes place above 2,000m, with the highest lift reaching 3,864m. Chamonix boasts 155km of trails, mostly intermediate, with the ski area in divided into 3 areas. The main areas in Chamonix consist of Le Domaine de Balme, ideal for beginners and intermediates, offering wide open slopes and tree-lined pistes, Brevent/Flegere, with south-facing slopes for strong skiers close to the village and Les Grands-Montets, known as the major ski area in the resort. This is where all the high-altitide and extreme skiing in Chamonix takes place, at a height of up to 3,300m, with plenty of incredibly steep terrain, moguls and off-piste opportunities. Chamonix is world-famous for its Vallee Blanche run, which, stretching for almost 22km, is one of the longest, and most dangerous in Europe. Other areas to ski in Chamonix include Les Houches, La Vormaine and Le Savoy, all at lower altitude and better suited to mixed abilities and families.

Cheap Chamonix Skiing - Traditional yet cosmopolitan town, lively apres-ski
As well as fantastic skiing conditions, the ski resort of Chamonix has plenty to offer away from the slopes. A traditional French town, the resort attracts tourists all year-round and boasts a wide variety of accommodation, shops, restaurants and entertainment, with the lively apres-ski in Chamonix being world-renowned. For non-skiers, activities in Chamonix include mountaineering, ice-climbing, ice-skating, sleigh-riding, dog-sledding, swimming, tennis and bowling, as well as a cable-car trip up to the Aiguille du Midi, and a ride on the cog-wheel train to the Mer de Glace.
