Ski school
Resort facilities in Chamonix include four very well-regarded ski schools within the town itself, offering classes at all levels for adults and children. Group ski lessons are a fun and cost-effective way for skiers in Chamonix to hone their skills, and private lessons are also available for those who prefer a personalised approach. English is spoken at all the ski schools in Chamonix, but the resort’s popularity means that classes fill up quickly – it is therefore advisable to contact the resort before arrival to book classes or one-on-one lessons.

Children
Children on a skiing holiday in Chamonix are exceptionally well catered for. Lessons are available in the town’s ski schools for children aged three upwards. There are several crèches in the resort. There is also a very good day care and children-only ski school in the two centres, called The Panda Club. At the Panda Club, children aged 3-12 can take part in indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts activities, and ski lessons. Half-day and full-day options are available, and lunch is included for children in Chamonix who wish to stay for a full day. Hotels and tourist information points can provide lists of qualified babysitters in Chamonix. There’s no end of exciting activities on offer for children on a skiing holiday in Chamonix. The town boasts nature reserves and zoos, a library with children’s corner, and a host of exciting winter activities such as snow games, tobogganing, sleigh rides and snow shoeing.

Dining

Après-ski 
The après-ski in Chamonix is almost as legendary as the skiing itself. Scores of bars, nightclubs and restaurants make for a lively atmosphere, although skiers in Chamonix will find that the majority of the action takes place not on the slopes, but in Chamonix town centre. Post-ski activity tends to be quiet, but things get very lively later in the evening and partiers on a ski holiday in Chamonix come out to play. A few slope-side bars do offer happy hour drinks promotions, however, allowing hungry skiers to enjoy post-ski drinks and bar snacks. There many wine bars in Chamonix, along with any number of places offering live music, DJs and dancing into the early hours.

Town facilities
Town facilities in Chamonix itself are excellent – there are several banks and cash points in the centre of the resort, as well as four pharmacies and 10 medical centres. Supermarkets, a post office, sports shops, fashion boutiques, hairdressers, beauticians, butchers, bakeries  and souvenir stores can all be found in the bustling town centre.

The slopes
Chamonix is considered by many to be the among the world’s best ski resorts. With good beginners slopes and ski schools as well as seriously challenging black runs, the resort caters for every level and ability. Boarders and extreme sports enthusiasts flock to Chamonix for its white-knuckle terrain!
