Skiing in British Columbia
British Columbia is the province on the Western coast of Canada and has every winter activity on offer; there is excellent skiing and snowboarding from beginner level to experts. British Columbia is the home to Whistler – regularly voted the number one ski resort in North America and also the host of the 2010 winter Olympic Games. British Columbia is an excellent area for a skiing or snowboarding holiday, with stunning views, beautiful tree lined runs, amazing powder and efficient modern facilities, and there is something for everyone.

Ski Resorts of British Columbia
From Whistler in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia to Kicking Horse ski resort in the British Columbia Rockies there is a huge choice of skiing and snowboarding. Whistler is the number one ski resort in North America, has international fame and certainly lives up to its name, it is also the closest ski resort to Vancouver making a city add-on possible. The mountains of Thompson Okanagan are in the centre of British Columbia and the ski resorts of Big White - the second largest ski resort in British Columbia, Silver Star and Sun Peaks are situated there. They offer good value for money, mixed ability and family ski holidays. The British Columbia Rockies are home to Fernie, an expert skiers and snowboarders paradise, five large bowls and excellent snow conditions. The uncrowded slopes also make Fernie a perfect ski resort for beginners and intermediate skiers. Kimberley is a 2 hour drive away and is a smaller, quieter ski resort than Fernie and is a good value ski option for families. Kicking Horse is also in the British Columbia Rockies and is famous for its Champagne Powder; the majority of the runs are for advanced skiers.

Apres ski in British Columbia
There is every choice of cuisine available across the ski resorts of British Columbia at every price level. Whistler has the most extensive choice of apres ski venues; Fernie also has plenty of friendly, lively bars. Most of the resorts have family events taking place when the ski lifts have closed. Heli-skiing is very popular across British Columbia as is cross country skiing and there are many activities to enjoy, for example snow shoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling and sleigh rides. Several of the resorts have excellent spas if a day away from the slopes is required.
