Skiing in Brides les Bains
Brides les Bains is a traditional French village, offering a low-cost alternative to the higher resorts within the Trois Vallees region, with good access to their 600km of marked terrain. Originally a spa town, Brides les Bains dates back to1848, and was the Olympic Village during the 1992 Savoie Winter Games. Despite the lack of skiing in Brides les Bains itself, the village is linked to Meribel, and has access to Courcheval, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, the resorts of the largest linked area in the world, Trois Vallees.

Skiing in Brides les Bains – The Mountains
Brides les Bains, at a height of just 600m, offers no doorstep skiing, but a 20 minute gondola ride transports skiers to Meribel, and its’ 150km of pistes, and from here into the heart of the Trois Vallees region. The location of Brides les Bains down on the main valley road means skiers can access the other resorts via gondolas very easily, and those staying in Brides les Bains are ideally placed to take advantage of the Savoie Olympic Pass, with a staggering 1,500km of pistes served by over 600 lifts. Meribel, the local ski area for Brides les Bains, offers plenty of choice for all levels of skier, with wide gentle nursery slopes, a huge network of intermediate trails and a selection of challenging blacks, including the Womens’ Olympic course, considered to be the toughest womens’ downhill trail in the world. Meribel is home to a huge amount of off-piste terrain, for both intermediate and expert skiers and all levels of boarders. Meribel has two snowparks, incorporating a half-pipe, two quarter-pipes, a boardercross course and various tables and jumps, and is a very snowboard-friendly resort.

Skiing in Brides les Bains – The Apres-ski
Brides les Bains is a real French alpine village, with a friendly atmosphere, and offers a complete contrast to the other resorts of the other Trois Vallees, with their sophisticated upscale, sometimes party-like atmosphere. The village offers much cheaper accommodation, and is a thriving shopping centre for visitors and locals alike, with lower prices than anywhere else in the area. Brides les Bains is home to some authentic French restaurants and bistros, a casino and a couple of discos. Visitors to Brides les Bains can visit the Olympic centre, with its’ pool and ice-rink, and try other activities such as dog-sledding, snow-shoeing, climbing, walking and hiking through the beautiful wooded trails and visiting the many spas still present in the village.
