Skiing in Briancon Briancon ski resort is classed as the highest town in Europe at 1300m; it is part of the Grand Serre Che ski area. Briancon is an ancient walled town with spectacular views and it is just 13km from Italy. Locally to Briancon there is 25kms of piste but with a Grand Serre Che ski lift pass and a gondola ride Briancon links up to up to a vast ski area, with plenty of choice for skiers, snowboarders and cross-country skiers. There is even a floodlit piste for night skiing in Briancon.
Choice of skiing in Briancon There are beginners slopes beneath the Pra Long lift in Briancon, a few blue and red runs but with the gondola linking up to the other ski resorts in the Grand Serre Che there is a total of 250kms of piste to explore. With a local bus running between all the resorts in the Grand Serre Che it is possible to start the day in Monetier at one end of the Guisane valley and ski all the way to Briancon.
Apres ski in Briancon Briancon has all the facilities of a French town, there are many good value restaurants and bars in the cobbled streets. There are also many activities for non skiers, a sports centre, swimming pool, ice skating rink, bowling alley etc.
