Breckenridge Snow Conditions

Breckenridge lies in Summit County in Colorado, just 80 miles from Denver, and close to the neighbouring resorts of Arapahoe Basin, Keystone and Copper Mountain. The town sees 300 days of snowfall each year and, thanks to its altitude, is a reliable snow-sure ski resort. One of the closest resorts to Denver and its international airport, Breckenridge remains a popular destination attracting skiers from all over the world, keen to enjoy not only the ski area but the charming town and its first-class facilities. Its slopes can be busy and crowded, however the exceptional lift system ensures that the lift lines run smoothly and efficiently.    

 

The high-altitude skiing resort of Breckenridge sits at 2,926m and offers skiing up to 3,962m across 4 mountains - Peaks 7, 8, 9 and 10. Over half of the 155 runs are rated as expert or for advanced skiers, however Breckenridge offers plenty of varied terrain for all levels, and an excellent ski school. Peak 9 has the gentlest slopes and easiest runs, with Peak 8 offering a good combination for intermediates and Peaks 7 and 10 being home to the most challenging terrain. The resort sees plenty of champagne powder, both in the open bowls above the tree-line and the glade areas, and is known for its fierce moguls and steep groomed trails. Breckenridge also boasts the highest lift in North America, the Imperial Express Chairlift, rising to 3,914m.

 

Breckenridge enjoys a long ski season from November to April, with the best snow seen during the months of February and March. Upper slope averages during the 2008 ski season reached 219cm, with the lower slopes seeing 191cm. Breckenridge also has a snowmaking operation consisting of 380 snow guns, which cover a quarter of the resort's slopes, and a sophisticated and extensive grooming system.
