Bormio Resort Facilities

The Scuola Sci Alta Valtellina at Bormio is a ski school purpose-built to meet the demands of tourists who wish to learn to ski, snowboard or Telemark ski from scratch, or to improve on their intermediate or advanced skiing skills. The team of instructors at the school (most of whom speak English) includes seasoned ski instructors, national instructors, Alpine guides and even former members of the Italian national team. There are other ski schools at the resort that offer lessons in skiing to individuals and groups.

 

The ski schools at Bormio take children from the age of three from 10am to 4pm. Babysitting and creche facilities are available at many Bormio hotels.

 

Bormio shopping is not extensive, but you can still pick up any extra ski equipment or ski wear you need from the sports shops on the main pedestrianised street. Self-caterers could stock up on regional foods at the small grocery stores. And the crafts for sale at Bormio’s quaint traditional shops could make wonderful gifts for family and friends back home.

 

Dining options at Bormio are limited but still attractive. The whole family could tuck into value-for-money cuisine at one of Bormio’s mountain restaurants. And in the old town centre enjoy a light snack and a coffee or two at an ambient cafe.

 

The apres-ski at Bormio is low-key and relaxed. Evenings spent at welcoming little bars and pubs can be a lovely way to finish off another wonderful day at the resort. And for those who may want to stay up a little longer, there is a disco that remains open until very late.

 

At Bormio and its surrounding neighbourhoods you can find banks (with cashpoint machines), hair stylists, beauty parlours, supermarkets, post offices, pharmacies and a laundrette. Most hotels have internet access.

 

There is a doctor at Bormio and most hotels have modest medical facilities. The nearest hospital is 18km from Bormio at Sondalo.
