Bad Hofgastein Ski Holidays
Bad Hofgastein, one of the four ski areas that combine to make up the Gastein Valley, offers a wealth of mainly intermediate skiing in a snow-sure high altitude picturesque resort. The whole region is famous for its’ plentiful thermal hot springs, and Bad Hofgastein and the larger Bad Gastein have been well established spa  towns since the 19th century, attracting both royalty and the rich and famous, all hoping the radon laden mineral water (with its’ ability to stimulate the bodies’ immune system) will heal and rejuvenate. Today the town is a quieter, more modern version of its’ slightly formal, elegant neighbour Bad Gastein, still offering many spas and therapeutic treatments against a picture postcard backdrop with a extensive ski area on its’ doorstep.

Ski Holidays In Bad Hofgastein – The Mountains
Skiing in the Gastein Valley offers skiers the chance to explore 250km of great terrain, using a modern lift system, incorporating a choice of 53 including gondolas, cable cars, a funicular and high speed chairs, to reach a top elevation of 2700m. Each resort has its’ own beginner slopes, those in Bad Hofgastein found on the Schlossalm, the mountain above the town. There is plenty of intermediate skiing to explore here at Bad Hofgastein and the mountain offers a huge amount of off-piste. Bad Hofgastein is linked by gondola and funicular to Bad Gastein so it’s possible to reach the main ski area, the Stuberkogel above Bad Gastein, home to the area’s longest run down to the central Angertal region, at 8km. Expert skiers will want to take the gondola up to Sportsgastein, the peak of which reaches 2700m, and marvel at the powder up here at the Kreuzkogel. Another place for advanced skiers is the Graukogel area with its’ fairly quiet World Cup black runs.  The whole of the Gastein Valley ski area is linked by shuttle bus, although some visitors choose to rent a car to explore all that the valley has to offer. There has been a huge amount of money invested recently in the resorts’ lift system and snowmaking facilities, making it all the more appealing for a great weeks’ skiing.
