Lech Snow Conditions - Receiving some of the most snow in Austria
The upscale resort of Lech lies in the Arlberg mountain range in eastern Austria. At an altitude of 1,450m, the resort offers skiing up to 2,450m and together with St. Anton, Stuben, St. Christophe and Zurs, Lech makes up part of the world-famous Arlberg ski area. This region receives perhaps the most snow in the country, on average about 250cm each year, with Lech and its neighbour Zurs, consistently offering reliable conditions and snow-sure slopes, with a good amount of winter sunshine.

Snow Conditions In Lech - Excellent intermediate slopes
This part of the Arlberg boasts some of the best intermediate skiing in all of Europe. Lech shares its slopes with Zurs, with the terrain spread over 3 mountains which can be tackled in a clockwise direction only. The skiing is generally above the tree-line, and reaches 2,450m. Compared to the other resorts in the area, Lech offers easier slopes, with more challenging slopes found in the Zurs region as well as throughout the famous expert area, St. Anton, a bus ride away. There is a good amount of off-piste here, but off-piste skiing through the trees is strictly forbidden and anyone caught doing so must surrender their lift pass. Lech is also the starting and finishing point for the 'White Ring', a ski tour taking in some spectacular scenery, and the site of the longest ski race in the world. There's never a problem with the slopes of Lech being too crowded, as numbers are limited here and day passes stop being sold when the resort receives a certain amount of skiers and riders.

Lech Snow Conditions - Very long ski season, from November to May
The ski season in Lech is particularly long and reliable, running from the end of November until the end of May. Winter sees about 70 days of sunshine in Lech, and in general the climate is mild and pleasant. Upper slope averages reached 223cm in 2007, with the lower slopes reaching a maximum of 64cm. A total of 29 snow cannons cover 20% of the slopes, and the snowmaking facilities are said to be among the most modern in the world.
