Arinsal Snow Conditions - Reliable snow in Vallnord ski area
Located in northern Andorra, Arinsal, together with neighbouring Pal, is part of the Vallnord region, the largest ski area in the Pyrenees with 140km of terrain. The resort sits at an altitude of 1,780m, with a top elevation of 2,560m, and with most of the runs located at 2,000m or above, the snow conditions on the slopes remain reliable. The ski season runs from December to late April, with the resort receiving an average of 250cm of snow each year, and plenty of southern sunshine.
Snow Conditions In Arinsal - Great choice for beginners and children
The slopes of Arinsal are ideal for children, ski beginners and lower intermediates. Its local ski area is in an east-facing bowl, which receives plenty of sun in the morning, and features narrow slopes with hardly any trees. However, there are plenty of wooded trails at Pal, with more varied terrain and shorter, wider slopes. The lifts at Arinsal are numbered and getting around the slopes is very straightforward. Steeper ridges along the ski area offer more challenges, and a heavy snowfall means great off-piste conditions at the top of the resort. More advanced skiers could head to Arcalis, also covered on the Vallnord lift pass, with its even steeper north-facing slopes and excellent snow coverage.
Arinsal Snow Conditions - Extensive snowmaking and well-groomed pistes
Recent years have seen varied upper slope averages, with 2007 only seeing highs of 60cm, whereas 2006 saw almost 130cm. Snowmaking is extensive in the resort, with 350 snow cannons covering 17km of slopes. In general, the pistes are maintained well by the resorts' fleet of grooming machines.
