Snow Conditions in Argentiere
Located in the Chamonix Valley, the high-altitude resort of Argentiere is known for its snow sure slopes and extensive challenging terrain. Lying at 1,250m, and with the skiing taking place up to 3,275m, the resort enjoys a long winter ski season running from November to May. Snow is virtually guaranteed from December to April, and conditions remain consistently good, making Argentiere an ideal choice for a late season ski trip.

Argentiere Snow Conditions - North-facing high-altitude slopes, excellent snow record
With an upper slope average of 205cm in February and 255cm in March and April, conditions during peak season are generally excellent. 2006 saw fantastic snow depths at the top of the mountains in Argentiere, reaching 432cm last March, and only dropping to 392cm in April. The resorts' close proximity to Mont Blanc, the tallest mountain in Europe, ensures that Argentiere retains its truly exceptional snow record, with the mountains' high peak blocking the sun and helping to maintain the seasons' deep snow base. The high-altitude glacial peaks and north-facing slopes also ensure the consistent base, and the resort sees plenty of fantastic powder conditions, which can soften slightly towards the tail end of the season in May. A total of 13 snow cannons help to maintain optimum conditions if needed.  

Snow Conditions in Argentiere - Challenging black runs, extensive off-piste terrain
The famed couloirs, steep gullies and un-groomed terrain of Les Grands Montets are generally filled with powder, creating challenging conditions for more advanced skiers. This tricky but rewarding region, with its 2,100m vertical, is home to some of the best off-piste skiing in the world, with skiers needing experienced and informative guides. The high-altitude slopes are at risk for avalanches and off-piste skiers should always be take the proper precautions, and be fully equipped.
