Arc 1600 Snow Conditions
Snow Conditions in Arc 1600 - Lowest village in Les Arcs, set in the trees
Les Arcs lies in the Tarentaise Valley in the Northern French Alps, just above the town of Bourg St. Maurice. Arc 1600 is the original of the 4 villages, and sits at the lowest altitude, offering scenic tree-lined skiing as well as good links to the glacial slopes above. With 300cm of snowfall a year and great proximity to Mont Blanc, the whole of Les Arcs is known as a snow-sure resort, with an excellent snow record and reliable conditions.
Snow Conditions in Arc 1600 - West-facing mountain, good access to glacial slopes
Named for its altitude, Arc 1600 is set amongst the trees, with the area offering runs for all levels of skier and boarder on its west-facing mountain. Mainly suiting competent beginners and intermediates, Arc 1600 has a range of gentle runs and charming wooded trails through the trees; however complete novices may be better off on the nursery slopes at Arc 1800, which tend to be much flatter and wider. More confident skiers have a choice of steep blacks to navigate at Arc 1600, and access to the high-altitude slopes of the glacier at Arc 2000 (3,226m) for more challenging runs, and a bigger vertical. Les Arcs is also linked to La Plagne by gondola, offering skiers even more choice in the recently-formed Paradiski area, with its 232 runs over 425km.
Snow Conditions in Arc 1600 - Snowmaking on lower slopes, runs for all levels
