Alpbach Snow Conditions - Low-lying resort, with skiing up to 2,000m
The alpine village of Alpbach is located in the Tyrol region of western Austria, less than an hour from Innsbruck, and lies on a plateau on the north side of the Alpbach valley. Sitting at an altitude of 1,000m, the resort is fairly low-lying but offers skiing up to a top elevation of 2,050m. With 45km of its own local slopes, Alpbach is also covered on the massive Kitzbuhel Alpen Pass, with access to 680km of pistes served by 230 lifts.

Snow Conditions In Alpbach - Ideal for beginners and intermediates
The skiing in Alpbach mainly takes place on the Wiedersberger Horn Mountain, located on the other side of the valley from town, just a 5-minute bus ride away. The slopes here are mainly suited to skiing beginners and skiing intermediates, with plenty of above tree-line terrain, and cruising trails descending back down through the woods. First-timers can make use of the three nursery areas at village level, and if the snow is lacking at this altitude, there is another beginners' area at the top, accessed by the gondola. More experienced skiers have a few challenging runs here, as well as a number of off-piste routes and - after a snowfall - decent fresh powder amongst the trees. Alpbachs' ski slopes are mainly north-west facing, and as they are grass-covered throughout the rest of the year, the mountain can still offer skiing when conditions are less than perfect, and there is just a thin layer of snow covering the slopes.

Snow Conditions In Alpbach - Snowmaking on 70% of slopes
