Skiing in Alberta Alberta is the fourth largest province in Canada and is home to some of the best ski resorts in the world. With peaks in Alberta ranging from 2100m to 3750m the ski season in this part of the Canadian Rockies can be a long one – often mid November through to May. Alberta is known for its’ wonderful powder snow, sunny days and fantastic choice of skiing and snowboarding. Alberta has the combination of fantastic views, excellent facilities and friendly hosts.
Ski resorts of Alberta Lake Louise is the largest ski resort in Alberta and Canada covering 4,200 acres, the village itself is small but is surrounded by a vast area of breathtaking scenery. The skiing and snowboarding here offers a huge variety for every ability. About 45mins away is Banff, which has two ski areas – Banff Mount Norquay and Sunshine Village. There is a Tri-Area Pass that links the two Banff ski areas with Lake Louise to create an unforgettable ski or snowboarding holiday. 150 miles north into the Canadian Rockies is the ski resort of Jasper, located in a national park. The ski area is called Marmot Basin and is much quieter than most other Canadian ski resorts, consequently there are very few queues and beautiful, wide open runs, and this is a perfect ski resort for families.
Apres ski in Alberta There is a wide range of restaurants in the ski resorts of Alberta offering cuisine to suite every taste and budget. Most of the après ski takes place in bars and pubs; Banff is the liveliest of the resorts in Alberta. There is plenty going on in the ski resorts of Alberta, including ice skating, snowmobiling, torchlight descents etc. There are Hot Spring pools in Banff and ice canyon walks in Jasper.
