2008 Holiday Skiing - Exotic long haul destinations
Snow sports lovers are becoming more discerning and experienced skiers are forever searching for 'the next big thing' in ski resorts. Foresaking the established alpine and North American resorts, a growing number are enjoying holidays in Eastern Europe and to destinations in Asia, Australasia and South America. China, Japan, South Korea and India all have new ski resorts with modern facilities and plans for further development in the near future. 2008 holiday skiing will see some of the lesser known resorts closer to home increase in popularity as they market themselves as distinct alternatives to the larger impersonal major ski resorts.

2008 Ski Holidays - Up and coming resorts
A new addition for several tour operators in 2008, Galtur is a traditional Tyrolean ski village which has positioned itself as the most family-friendly resort in the region. It offers a dedicated childrens skiing area and has low key apres ski entertainment with a friendly and informal atmosphere. Further east, a major redevelopment has taken place in the Bulgarian resort of Bansko and should see a large increase in visitor numbers during 2008, particularly from UK skiers who have been coming to this area for many years. With a new state of the art ski lift system and well equipped snowboard park complete with half pipe, it is destined to be a popular choice for 2008 holiday skiing.
2008 Holiday Skiing - Skiing in the Americas
A suitably exotic skiing location is Chile, which is home to several ski resorts and with altitudes at around 3000 metres, snow cover is virtually guaranteed. While much less developed than Europe as an industry it is increasing in popularity with adventurous foreign visitors, particularly to the main resort of Termos de Chillan. The major draw here is the awe inspiring natural beauty - it sits in a mountainous volcanic region surrounded by hot sulphur springs and offers varied terrrain and excellent off piste skiing. With the fall in value of the dollar, the United States is an even more attractive proposition for 2008 ski holidays and should see a rise in visitor numbers. Read about 2010 ski holidays.
